Our team is a fountain of knowledge for those seeking to learn about how to make the most of their hair in its most natural state and with minimal effort.
Using a little biology and chemistry we aim to share with you tailored tips, tricks, hacks and ways to save money whilst supporting your health.
We also offer education and consultancy for other salons and hair stylists who would be interested in learning more about ancestral haircare practises or are looking to know more about truly non-toxic haircare and low-maintenance hair cutting.

Alicia
SENIOR STYLIST/CURLS & GENTLE COLOURIST
Ali is an experienced stylist with a passion for embracing and enhancing your natural hair. Bristol Born and bred with over ten years experience in the industry, including environments with. a curl focus, she is a stylist with an eye for how to make the most of your curls, and creates beautiful curly cuts and colouring.
Her passion is helping people embrace their natural curls and give them the knowledge to help them care for their curls at home. She loves educating her clients and finding styles that work for their natural texture.
She says the best part of her job is seeing the confidence that comes from loving your hair. She aspires to help you leave the salon feeling the best version of yourself you possibly can.
Ali is chatty, bubbly and welcoming and loves building connections with clients.

Jade
SENIOR STYLIST
Jade has sixteen years experience as a holistic hair stylist using natural and organic products, with a growing knowledge of herbs and oils over the years. She values working with nature.
She enjoys and has experience with all hair types and styles, she has a passion for working with long hair, waves and curls.
Her intention is to always hear and see her clients vision as she believes a clear consultation is key. Inspired by the shamanic path and indigenous roots, she believes hair empowers us and connects us to our authentic self.
Jade has a soul based approach to life and likes to help others with theirs through her love of astrology, she also likes to paint, dance and DJ.

Seanie is a Senior Stylist at Manu Botanicals with 25+ years’ experience. Qualified at 19, she specialises in curl care, long-term hair health and gentle colour techniques that preserve hair integrity.
With a background in visual art, she applies a trained eye for shape, balance and movement, using tailored cutting and colour placement to enhance natural texture. Her yoga practice and interest in holistic wellbeing inform a calm, trauma-aware approach that respects hair’s role in identity and confidence—especially during transitions like grey blending.
She creates a supportive, collaborative salon experience, offering bespoke curl and colour services that prioritise hair health. Seanie champions plant-based, performance-led products to help clients choose sustainable solutions for their hair and lifestyle.

Lara
FOUNDER / CURLS & FINE HAIR
Since opening Tame the Mane I have unexpectedly found my niche in curly cuts. My admiration for big, wild hair is rooted in personal envy, yet I also expertly manage fine hair — just like my own. If you seek a modest trim because your hair grows slowly, then I am the stylist for you.
A few years ago, after years of damage, I discovered the liberating journey of embracing my hair's natural state. I became enamoured with the “No-Poo” method and delved into herbalism and ancestral haircare, crafting remedies to restore my hair. This transformative experience ignited my passion for helping others achieve similar results.
I have cherished every moment of Tame the Mane, which was the first seven year chapter of my journey. It has been a joy to connect with wonderful clients in my community.

Charlotte
GRADUATE STYLIST/SALON ASSISTANT
Charlotte has joined the team at Manu with a candid enthusiasm to get stuck into learning as much as she can here and developing and refining her skills in a gentle and relaxed environment. With support from senior stylists when needed, she is producing wonderful outcomes on curls and all types and textures of hair.
She is also interested in exploring more colour work and training in the future with us. Much more to come for this talented young graduate.
Charlotte loves music, dance and MJ, as well as 2000s TV shows and dabbling into witchy interests.

MIRROR OPTIONS
We provide a mirror policy, allowing you to choose whether to use it during your service. Please add a note before your appointment for a more comfortable experience.
CURLY HAIR SPECIALISTS
We celebrate all curls and provide "sculpting" cuts, usually on dry hair, with dampening as needed. Additionally, we offer natural cleansing and co-washing options for No-poo or Curly Girl routines.
NATURAL & CRUELTY FREE
At Manu Botanicals & Hair Studio, we offer a blend of 100% natural and cruelty-free products from ethical sources. Our range includes natural and vegan-friendly items, with our own line launching soon.

All first time clients require a 'First time guest' appointment where you will book in either a 'Shorter than chin' or a 'Longer than chin' service; these options relate to the length of hair you already have coming into the salon.
During your first appointment, your stylist will inform you which time slot to book next depending on what you want. We chose time-based services that relate to hair density to hopefully save people some money (You've all got different amounts of hair!)
* If you're a first time client wanting a 'Deluxe cut', that's fine! This appointment gives us time to cover all bases so no need to book for a 'First time guest'.

We ask all clients to come with clean, detangled hair that shows the movement in their hair well. This is due to our Dry Cutting technique used on most clients (our curly hair client base is large) where we "sculpt" curls and waves to see the natural bounce and avoid shrinkage.
If you would like a wash within the experience, please add this on. We have an 'Add ons' section on our service menu.
* Our 'Deluxe Cuts' & New Client appointments do already include a wash & dry (we'll ask you what you want within the appointment) but we still ask for clients to come with clean and detangled hair so we can observe your hair type.

All our stylists will help to their best ability with product advice and haircare. We all have varying knowledge, especially with the sheer amount of curly products on the market, but we have our trusted natural products that have been carefully selected over the years by Lara that we sell in-store. As well as our online shop.
The 'First time guest' appointment was also created for these questions. Our stylists have more time with you to be able to go over everything and help you as best they can on your journey.
'Deluxe cuts' are specifically for product talk and helping you decipher what your hair might be needing. They include a Cut, Wash & Dry whilst talking through options with your stylist on how to care for your hair. You'll leave with a form documenting your conversation and plan of action.

We are a team of self-employed co-workers, so each of us is our own business as some work from home, mobile, or in other salons.
Therefore, we try to organise our own appointments as much as possible. If you do email the salon regarding rescheduling, we usually forward to the relevant stylist to respond.

Hair Studio & Workshop Space
As of 2026 we now have another sister salon in Totnes, Devon. Naia Naturals is owned by our long-standing team member Faye Blake.
We are excited what this space shall bring in terms of workshops and education, as well as extensions of Faye’s other holistic practises.
